Browsing projects
Browsing the project register does not need cookies. Reporting uses a short-lived secure form cookie; opening a private case adds an access cookie. Email sign-in creates a seven-day account session cookie. No advertising cookies are used. Requests necessarily send your IP address and browser request details to the hosting service; security controls use request information to protect against abuse.
Choices saved on this device
Your theme, text size, data-saving preference and saved projects are stored in your browser. They are not a citizen account and are not synchronised to another device. Clearing browser storage removes them.
If you choose to save a report draft, its text stays in this browser. Do not save sensitive details on a shared device. You can delete the draft on the reporting page.
Maps and your location
Map images load from OpenStreetMap or the configured tile provider, which receives your IP address. Data saver pauses maps until you choose to load one. “Near me” asks your browser for location permission; coordinates are used on your device to position the map and are not submitted as a citizen report.
Photographs
Served project photographs are processed to remove embedded device and location metadata. Published project coordinates remain visible on the project page and in open-data exports.
Contacting support
Email links open your own mail application. If you send a message, the recipient receives your email address and what you choose to include. Avoid sending identity documents or financial details.
Reports and accounts
Anonymous reporting collects the observation and location details you choose to provide, your visibility choices and any evidence you attach. Your private code unlocks the case; keep it safe. A confidential case cannot become public through your upload. An optional email account stores your verified email and saved project list. Anonymous cases are not automatically linked to it.
For access, correction or deletion enquiries — including about a report you made without an account — contact the Data Protection Officer, Chinonso Okoye, at [email protected], without sending your tracking code. Retention periods and staffed pilot procedures must be approved before a production launch; local development records are test data.
Who can see who you are
Officials working on a report see a public handle or “Anonymous resident”, never your email address or phone number. Only the State’s Data Protection Officer can open a reporter’s contact details, for one report at a time, where the law requires it — for example a court order, or an immediate risk to someone’s life or safety. Each such look-up records its legal basis and reason, and the platform administrators are told. If you gave no contact details and did not credit the report to an account, there is nothing to open.
